About SmallArt Stuff

SmallArt Stuff

Art of the smaller kind that will fit just about any space on any wall

I paint and draw artwork in small and medium sizes (very occasionally a large one!), using my two favourite media--oils and soft pastels. However I am happy using most media and you may find watercolour, acrylic, charcoal and pencil works; in fact, if it makes any sort of mark on paper or canvas, I'm probably using it.

My subjects of choice are landscape and floral but I will not "pigeon-hole" my work and will tackle anything that takes my interest.
I started almost fifty years ago in a local art class, armed with half a dozen oil tubes and a few brushes. Through many years I expanded my interest to other media, driven by curiosity and a near-insatiable fascination in process and art-materials science. If something new came on the market for artists, I bought it to try it out! At one time I also did craftwork with resins and mould-making, which was fascinating, but there wasn't enough time in the day to do that and art, so one of them had to go....

Smaller artworks are a particular favourite and I tend to work in a range from the occasional ACEO up to around 40x30cm (16x12 inches). I don't have a dedicated studio, so a lot of my "mess" has to be cleared up at day's end, to keep the house tidy (it never is but that's another story).
