I do dolls.£45.00
My journey in to doll making began by making healing dolls. I created a series of dolls to help me understand feelings of anxiety. Pretty soon I was having design ideas of my own and began sketching art dolls that I wanted to make. Once I began the ideas have kept coming. I like the texture, pattern and colour of the fabrics, the shine and lustre of beads, the effects of different stitches and threads. I am also pleased that my work has jumped off the page, in a sense, from 2D to 3D. My main inspiration is nature personified with some magical and mystical elements.
I joined the Embroiderers Guild in 2023 to connect me with other textile artists and to learn different stitching techniques. I have enjoyed learning from a range of textile books. I find textile art is really accessible to anyone and that many artists will happily share their practice and techniques where as before when I was mostly painting I felt more isolated.
I make art dolls to share the mystery I sense in nature.
I hope others will feel a connection or sympathy with my work.
