“Growing Willow and weaving baskets on the Isle of Skye”
I live on a croft in South Skye with my wee family. I grow many willow varieties and harvest the rods myself (with help from my partner and daughters) to make baskets in our kitchen. No chemicals are used. The willow rods are cut each winter, and the plant survives, providing new rods each year. Our wet climate is ideal for growing basketry willow. We manage our croft for biodiversity, firewood, horticulture and willow. I love plants, growing, our native wildlife, the community we live in and making baskets.
