Oversized crochet woolen cardigan with cotton crochet applique daisies.

I chose to call this little number Beatrice as a tribute to my great aunt. She led me to find family I didn't know I had. Born in the 1800s Beatrice travelled from Ireland with her husband Neal to flee the Irish famine in hope of a new life. Leaving her old life and family behind. They arrived in Boston safe and well, the generations continued & thrived in Boston. I've been lucky enough to connect with my 5th cousin Sean who still lives in Boston, through the powers of social media. Together we have discovered more of our history.
The famine wiped out an estimated 1million Irish people due to starvation and hunger related diseases. A further 1million Irish emigrated.
