In 1983, we moved from a council house to our own house and my mum did her bedroom out all in Laura Ashley blues and whites, from curtains to wallpaper to bedspread to ottoman cover. She sewed all the soft furnishings herself, which was very exciting because we had to bring the fabric especially from the mainland to Shetland. When I moved back to UK from Australia in 2009, my mum found the old bedspread and lots of old Laura Ashley fabric remnants in their attic. She gave me some and I have had been steadily sewing the scraps into doll's clothes, scrunchies and have even sewn some into my patchwork bag. How cool Laura Ashley's cool again!
